Enabling True Adoption of Renewables
deMITasse Energies is a young company based out of New Delhi and New Jersey that was brought into existence with the resolve to build solutions to tough challenges that humanity faces. Today, we are working to solve our generation’s greatest challenge – climate change. Renewables are slowly but steadily gaining grounds over fossil fuels. But "the last mile is always the toughest" – 50% more electricity is generated today from fossil fuels than 20 years ago! At deMITasse Energies, our goal is to make the last mile in the transition to renewables easier and desirable. We build and deploy long duration energy storage systems that enable ‘true adoption’ of renewables.
We are developing and commercializing our cutting-edge thermo-chemical technology that enables our plants to efficiently capture and store energy, up to grid scales for several months with zero energy dissipation, at a price point that is 4-8 times cheaper than other alternatives including lithium-ion and other electrochemical batteries. After years of intense research and testing of various permutations and combinations of potential catalysts and chemicals which could optimize our thermo-chemical cycle to outperform existing storage technologies, we now have developed the first commercially deployable version of our technology. By early 2024, once we have incorporated the vast learnings we have gained after fielding several paid pilots across a variety of industries in India, we will begin commercial deployment of our plants.
deMITasse's primary offering is MW-scale grid-interacting energy storage plants that time-shift off-peak electricity, integrate various thermo-electric energy sources, and provide a mechanism for “just transition.” These plants would enable power grids of the future to operate with extremely high reliability in an incredibly volatile demand-supply environment. This newfound superpower to reliably handle extreme variability on both demand and supply side would then enable replacement of all fossil-fueled power plants with zero emission ones, and it would also provide a real opportunity to electrify several industries and facets of human existence like transportation, cooking, and climate control. But while energy storage is the primary application of and key motivation for our technology, like most great technologies, it has several applications as well. From waste heat recovery to marine propulsion to clean hydrogen to spacecraft thrusters, there are several applications of our technology.
